Crowborough Beacon Golf Club Review & Golf Day

Well, round two of the South Coast Golf Tour saw Matt and Paul join up with nearly 60 golfers to play the glorious Crowborough Beacon Golf Club in East Sussex.
We dodged the weather yet again and had a day of glorious sunshine and cloud. T shirts for most of the day and only a few times did we need to cover up.

Arriving early we disappeared into the local town for a fry up and then headed back for the superb presentation and met all the guests.

Matt’s Bunker Mentality Hit it Hard Clubhouse Polo grabbed the clothing headlines as he turned plenty of heads early on and even more when he hit the ball into the practice nets metal bar ricocheting back at the group on the putting green.

The course was in good condition. The green-keepers had done a great job keeping the course tidy over the winter with the bad growing conditions and it did show a little on some greens. We’d certainly like to go back in the summer when greens had settled and the grass was growing nicely on them again. Two greens had recently been re-laid and they were a little hard to putt on, but it didnt deter from the day in any way at all.

Its a wonderful layout, challenging where it needs to be and a track you need to plot your way around. The website sums it up pretty perfectly to be honest.

“Although over 100 years old the course is still recognised as one of the best heathland courses in the South with more and more golfers discovering its delights. The condition of the course warrants the staging of important county competitions but tee choices offer a fair day out to golfers of all levels.

As well as those on the Course, the stunning views to the South Downs and beyond from the Bar, balcony and dining room together with our excellent all-day snacks or meals will ensure your day is one to remember and repeat.”

The event was organised by South Coast Golf Tour (Dave Fluke and his Partner Claire Love from LWS Creative) as a corporate golf day for Carpenter Box Accountants LLP. It was a great day and everyone went away with a smile.

Especially Paul who picked up 2nd place overall and a years golf membership at Lingfield Park. Matt also put in a good performance and cemented his place in the top 5 of the tour leaderboard after 2 events.

A great day, and we look forward to the next tour stop at Wildwood Golf Club.
