Being a bit of a ‘harry dash’ golfer I’ve always loved funky golf gear. Every year I go on a golf holiday with a few lads and they love to tease me for matching my gear up with my shoes and accessories. Its become almost expected now and with our annual trip to Okehampton coming up very soon I wont disappoint this time round either.
We’ve teamed up with Bunker Mentality to provide you the latest in funky golf clothing, but shoes are something I’ve always enjoyed matching up to my clothing and belts / hats.
Puma have been bringing us some cool shoes for a few years now, but never quite my colour. I’ve not delved into the world of orange (Ricky Fowler) just yet. Not sure I will to be fair.
However, when I had the opportunity to try out these shoes I thought I better do. I’ve been a spikeless golfer for a while now. Not because I dislike spikes, but because I love the comfort and look of the trainer style golf shoes.
I run in Puma Faas Running shoes and it just so happens that Puma Faas Trac Evospeed Golf shoes are almost a carbon copy of my runners in terms of their styling.
So they were already getting a tick from me in terms of looks.
The quality doesnt end there either. The Dimple and Spike sole provide exceptional grip, better than I’ve ever had. They are light, look great and feel great.
As a shoe they look superb with a pair of plain trousers, patterned trousers and indeed shorts. These babies will be on my feet for the majority of rounds this summer and I think will only get tucked away when the ground gets wet and dirty.
Overall – a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. Puma are on their way in the fashion conscious golf world.
Look out I say! Mind you, you’ll see me coming.
