On Friday (22nd March), the 2013 South Coast Golf Tour began at Singing Hills Golf Course. There had been a lot of rain in the few days leading up to the start, and everyone had their fingers crossed that the rain would hold off for the day. We managed to get nearly all the way round before the showers began.
Paul, Stuart and myself attended the event, looking forward to playing a different course. We arrived with a couple of products we are currently in the process of reviewing. The SwingTip and the Birdieball. 2 great products and there was a lot of interest in them when we displayed them during breakfast, and even more when we took them out on to the the practice area for the warm up. These are a couple of products that could be very successful in the UK market.
We started the rounds and had been told we had to have carry bags today, as the course was so wet under foot. And they weren’t lying. I don’t think I have ever played on such a water logged course.
Unfortunately one of the people in my group had to drop out early as he had a migraine, so we finished as a 3-ball.
I played a very solid round and ended up with 39 points, although I did have a few scary moments but my short game really helped me out a lot. I ended up in 2nd place, and only on count-back. I was gutted that I hit a fat shot on the last and ended up with a 5, otherwise I’d have won outright. I won a £100 voucher for L. Guess Jewellery, so my wife was happy I had played golf (for once!). And we went straight out on the Saturday, so she could buy something sparkly.
