Summer 2013 Brief Review – What’s been going on?

We’ve been a little quiet this summer and must apologise for that.  Its been a buy one for us all, holidays, golf trips and house moves to name a few.  But here is a little update before we really get going this autumn.

Paul and Stu are now staunched members of Team Titleist and loving the equipment and balls.  Neal has his new driver and Matt his new irons and they are all paying dividends.

Stu’s been working very hard on his game and there is hints that he’s getting closer to something like he knows he can play, but he’ll be first to admit that it takes a long time after a few years out.

We’ve played in plenty of medals and had plenty of nightmare holes.  I even had a 9 on the card in the club championship!!

We did our Longest day challenge on a day where the wind was gusting to 45mph!  Mad hitting 5 irons in from 120 yards but thats what it was taking at times.  Always nice to turn around and hit 3 iron, bump into a a 400 yard par 4 though.

Handicaps have started moving.  I’ve been very pleased to get down to 7 for the first time ever.  I’d never been below 8 before and in the space of 3 weeks dropped below the 7 to 6.8.  Matt and Neal have both shaved shots off and are working hard for more.

I went off to Okehampton in Devon with a group of 24 and managed to take the title.  The first time in 5 years that the ‘Wilfred Bramble Golf Society’ Salmon Jacket has gone onto my back.  I overhauled the points leader on the last day with a 41 point haul on the Forest and Pines course after three steady rounds on Kigbeare, Ashbury and Beeches before that.  I even won my Cider Cup singles and afternoon matchplay that weekend.  We’ve booked again for next year and hopefully the full 3MIB team will be in attendance.

Stuart and Neal managed to become the first pairing to reach 5 wins on our inter 3MIB match and so they take the ‘Almond cup’.  Its ficticous and I hate nuts so they are welcome to it.

The Curry Cup starts this weekend and the best of 9 format still exists with the losers taking the victorious pair out for a curry.  Paul and Neal take on Stu and Matt this time round in as many, or whatever formats we can dream up along the way.

Matt is storming the leaderboard on the south coast golf tour and Paul is off to Wentworth and the Wisley Golf Club soon so watch this space for more reviews and news.

Till then, get some golf in before the Autumn hits again!!  Its been a wonderful summer, lets hope winter is kind to us golfers.

About Froome Dog

Paul is a golf nut who is desperate to reduce his handicap further and get close to those magic numbers in category 1. Working hard on his game when time permits he's hoping to see some marked improvement in 2016. Watch this space
